The Egyptian plover (Pluvianus aegyptius), also known as the crocodile bird can sit in the mouth of a crocodile and eats all of the bits of food left over. This helps both animals.

Assignment

Students will draw a picture of a crocodile with its mouth open. Your crocodile should have someting in its mouth.

Crocodiles are hungry hungry reptiles and they love to eat. They also have relationships with plover birds that sit in their mouth to eat all of the bit left in their teeth. This is what is called a symboitic relationship. Both animals benefit from the relationship. Crocodiles keep a healthy mouth and the birds get a nice meal.

We will draw a hungry crocodile. Follow the step by step instrucions to create a crocodile and then give him something to eat or a helper friend in his mouth.
